Week 4: Wednesday That Spark

That Spark

Today is the day we talk about all things dreams, passion, and purpose! But, before we dive into the good stuff, I want to tell you a story about a time I chased someone else’s purpose. This is how my spark ignited.

As a kid, I had big ole dreams. I would have bet my entire life savings (AKA my piggy bank) that I would attend an out-of-state university (wrong), major in interior design (wrong again), and somehow land an HGTV show where I would stand in front of a camera and have America fall in love with me (once again, wrong). Sounds amazing, right? I drooled over this dream for YEARS until one day my vision and heart behind it all changed.

After a good hard look at my HGTV dream, I realized I was not chasing my purpose… I was chasing Joanna Gaines’s. I was trying to pursue the life God created for her, not the life He created for me. As much as I would love to be Joanna, I am not going to be. I have different dreams, different visions, and a different purpose. And I am goofy, energetic, passionate, and determined; I am me.

That day, I realized chasing someone else’s dreams would never fully satisfy my soul because those dreams were never mine to chase. It’s okay to have goals and to look up to people, but don’t look at somebody else and say, “That’s what I want to be.” Because then you’re seeking their purpose, not yours.

I believe when you come to terms with the fact that your vision and purpose look different than the gals’ next to you, you will ignite a spark in your heart that sets your soul on fire. That is what I want for you because that spark can change the world. That spark can help others, love others and lead others.

Your spark can make a difference.

Be real, be you. Chase YOUR dreams and seek YOUR purpose. God gave you this purpose for a reason, and there is no better person to walk in it than you.

Week 4: Tuesday Quote

So, who is Havilah Cunnington?

By the age of 19, Havilah and her twin sister Deborah were traveling all over California preaching, teaching and singing at any place that would have them. By the age of 21, they had been in seven different states and Mexico teaching about Jesus and His great plan for this generation! Havilah Cunnington has been in full-time ministry for twenty years, and serves as a pastor at Bethel Church. Havilah and her husband, Ben, lead a nonprofit and an online platform called Truth to Table, reaching the world with Bible studies, messages, and lifestyle leadership tools. Havilah and Ben live in Redding, California, with their four sons: Judah, Hudson, Grayson, and Beckham (https://havilahcunnington.com).

Question: On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you love this quote?

Week 4: Tuesday Verse

So, what does 1 Peter 4:10 mean?

Peter is implying two things within this verse:
  1. That we should view our gifts as a gift from God.
  2. That we should view our gifts as an opportunity to serve others.
We have received our gifts through grace, and grace alone. It is by grace that we use our gifts. We serve God because God gives, not because we earn the right to be used by God.

Question: What spiritual gifts and talents do you believe God has given you?

Week 4: Monday Verse

So, what does Acts 26:29 mean?

Paul (like the other Apostles) was hated by most of the Jews because he openly and publicly taught that Jesus was the Son of God. Paul spent several years of his ministry in prison, and in this verse, Paul states that even though he was in chains, he had more freedom in Jesus than any of the royalty listening had.

Question: What does this verse mean to you or how does it relate to your life?

How the Weeks Connect

Weeks Connect

Over the last few blog posts, we identified why faith, mindset, intention, and purpose were important. But, we never singled out what their connection is and why these topics relate to you.

Faith

Week one of the Foundation course is all about building a strong foundation in your life that is rooted in faith. Once you have a strong foundation in faith, everything you do will then be done in faith. That leads us to week two.

Mindset

A foundation of faith within your life allows you to develop a healthy and holy mindset. It allows you to remove the doubt and fear that roams in your head and allows you to become confident in who God created you to be. When your mindset changes, your actions and habits begin to change as well. Which brings us to week three.

Intention

A healthy and holy mindset will guide you in establishing an intentional lifestyle. It will allow you to be mindful of your daily habits and what you consume. This kind of mindset empowers you to be present in the moment and create genuine friendships that do nothing but encourage you to walk in faith. Which takes us to the fourth and final week.

Purpose

An intentional lifestyle will allow you to identify your God-given talents, walk humbly, redefine purpose and pinpoint the legacy you wish to leave. To put it simply these four topics need to have a strong connection. A foundation in faith develops a healthy mindset, which then helps you to create an intentional lifestyle that allows you to live a life of purpose.

Here at Ignite, we believe God has created you on purpose, with a purpose. He has given each of you a unique set of gifts and has placed passions in your heart. We believe you have something to offer to this world and that is why we invite you to join us as we take on our BRAND-NEW Foundation Course together.

Why Purpose?

Purpose

What exactly is purpose? Is it my career? My calling? My success? How and where do I find it?

A lot of us also ask ourselves the question, ‘What is my purpose?’ I will admit, I have asked myself this question more times than I can count as I’m sure many of us have. I don’t think there is anything wrong with asking this question, but it becomes a problem when the question of ‘What is my purpose’ turns into ‘I don’t have a purpose.’

It is Not All About Success

We live in a world that loves to share success stories. Which makes it hard not to compare ourselves! This girl is getting her master’s, that gal launched a business, this lady went to Aruba and so on. We get so caught up in this comparison battle that it can consume us.

We are constantly being fed society’s definition of purpose. And as a result, it makes us feel as if we don’t have one. I want people to know that purpose is so much more than money or accolades. It is so much more than being successful or fitting in. Here at Ignite, we believe that God has given everyone a unique purpose, on purpose.

Redefining Your Purpose

So, I invite you to join the gals at Ignite as we take on the BRAND-NEW Foundation Course together. A four-week journey focused on building a faith-based foundation, developing a healthy and holy mindset, establishing an intentional lifestyle, and redefining your purpose as a child of God.

Week Four of Foundation will help you discover what is holding you back from walking in your purpose. This is your invitation to identify your passions and God-given talents and pinpoint the legacy you desire to leave. Join us as we take on this new course together, in community.
